The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) today announced that Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall will welcome UFC Fight Night® to Atlantic City on Saturday, April 21, 2018, under the terms of a unique alliance with IMG approved by the Board in 2017 to provide and curate leading events and experiences that support Atlantic City’s tourism economy. IMG is a global leader in sports, events, media and fashion.
UFC Fight Night on FS1 will be internationally televised on the flagship Fox Sports broadcast network and will feature an action-packed event of at least ten fights in the UFC’s famed Octagon®, along with ancillary events specifically designed to spur fan activity in Atlantic City.
This marks the first UFC event at Boardwalk Hall since June of 2005 (UFC 53: Heavy Hitters) and the first in Atlantic City since July of 2014 (UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller at Revel.)
The fastest growing sports organization in the world, the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®), started in 1993 as a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) organization. Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2018, UFC boasts more than 278 million fans worldwide and has produced over 400 events in 21 countries since its inception. UFC produces more than 40 live events annually that consistently sell out some of the most prestigious arenas around the globe, while programming is broadcast in over 163 countries and territories to more than 1.1 billion TV households worldwide in 25 different languages.
Later this week, UFC will announce additional and ticketing information on its website at www.ufc.com.
“The momentum of world-class activities at Boardwalk Hall and throughout Atlantic City continues along at full-speed in 2018 – and this showcase UFC event is continued proof positive,” explained Chris Howard, CRDA’s Executive Director.
“UFC is a global powerhouse and we proudly welcome them to Historic Boardwalk Hall for one of their limited number of events this year worldwide,” said Bob Mulcahy, CRDA’s Chairman. “This marks the fourth blue-chip event in our 2018 alliance with IMG, which is building steam and impact throughout Atlantic City’s tourism, event and sports sector.”
