CRDA: July '17 Board Meeting

At yesterday’s public meeting, the Board of the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) authorized the CRDA to negotiate and execute two new public-private partnerships to bring destination events to historic Boardwalk Hall and the Atlantic City Convention Center, as well as other local venues within the Tourism District.

“We are excited to partner with WME/IMG and Comcast NBC Universal to further our mission and commitment to attract visitors by delivering exciting entertainment to Atlantic City across a broad range of events, many of which have never before been held in the City.  In the midst of a hugely successful Summer Beach Concert Series, which has drawn at least 60,000 visitors to our city, the CRDA continues to creatively bring world-class entertainment to Atlantic City,” said CRDA Board Chairman Robert Mulcahy.

To facilitate the public’s access to all of the activities in Atlantic City, CRDA Executive Director Chris Howard unveiled a revamped electronic event calendar that is available on the CRDA’s website at www.njcrda.com.

“We’ve been able to create a digital calendar showing business, entertainment and community events in the City so that stakeholders, residents, employees and visitors alike can now check out what’s happening here from their computers and mobile devices.”

About the CRDA:

The only agency of its kind nationwide, the CRDA has used Atlantic City casino reinvestments as a catalyst for meaningful, positive improvement in the lives of New Jersey residents since 1984.  Under the 2011 Tourism District Act, the Authority's mission evolved from statewide projects to becoming the state's key economic development agency for Atlantic City.  CRDA's expanded responsibilities now include land use regulation, tourism marketing and clean and safe initiatives. The CRDA also oversees Historic Boardwalk Hall (the leading entertainment venue of its size in the country) and the Atlantic City Convention Center.  In total, CRDA has invested nearly $2 billion in more than 400 projects statewide, of which $1.8 billion has been invested in Atlantic City, spurring business investments and expansions, and creating permanent jobs in the process.
