Artistic Productions…in an AC Garage

If you think of a garage as a structure created to house or store vehicles, and a vehicle as a means of transportation, then we invite you to step outside the box for a moment. A vehicle can also mean a medium of expression, and that’s just the type of vehicle you’ll find in the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University. This parking facility has found a vibrant second life as an outlet for artistic endeavors for local artists and craftsmen and has established itself as one of the most exciting art galleries in New Jersey.

Established in November 2013, the Arts Garage is the newest addition to the Atlantic City Arts District and a cooperative enterprise of Stockton University and the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA). The Noyes Arts Garage has since become an integral part of the blossoming arts and culture scene in Atlantic City.

Parked inside the garage are studios featuring a diverse collection of American fine and folk art, ranging from basketry, handmade lace and shell carvings to contemporary photography, illustration, painting and sculpture created by local, regional and emerging artists. You’ll also find shops, a café, the Noyes Museum of Art gallery and the African American Heritage Museum. Watch in admiration as more than a dozen craftsmen work in their open studios and pick up original artwork and gifts from local shops.

The Noyes Arts Garage also hosts community events such as monthly Second Fridays, which celebrates exhibition openings with a reception and live music. Artists are encouraged to display and sell their work, teach classes or conduct workshops in the multi-purpose classroom-studio.

Admission is free and the Garage is open every day except Mondays and Tuesdays. Hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. except for Sunday, when the Garage closes at 5:00 p.m. Parking in the Wave Garage is free with a minimum $25 purchase from the Arts Garage shops.
