Historic Gardner’s Basin is proof that the attractions of Atlantic City extend beyond its world-famous boardwalk and casinos. One of Atlantic City’s top family attractions — the Atlantic City Aquarium/Ocean Life Center — makes its home at Historic Gardner’s Basin. Although the Atlantic City Aquarium is perhaps the best known of Historic Gardner’s Basin attractions, it is hardly the only one.
Historic Gardner’s Basin also features deep-sea and back bay fishing charters as well as a variety of cruises offered by Atlantic City Cruises, among them dolphin-watching cruises, sightseeing cruises and cocktail cruises. Other attractions at Historic Gardner’s Basin include the Flying Cloud Café, the Back Bay Ale House and Bayside Basin Antiques. Also of interest at Historic Gardner’s Basin is the “Diving Bell,” once an attraction at Atlantic City’s Steel Pier. Historic Gardner’s Basin even has its own artists’ colony.
The attractions of Historic Gardner’s Basin scarcely hint at the maritime park’s colorful past. Historic Gardner’s Basin was once alive with commercial fishing fleets and rumrunners.
