Who Needs A Permit?
Film permits are required throughout Atlantic - Cape May counties and its municipalities for commercial film, video or still photo shoots that are conducted on public property. A film permit is not required for individuals filming or videotaping only for their own personal or private use, for employees of print or electronic news media when filming ongoing news events, or for students and faculty filming exclusively for educational purposes.
There is no fee for this permit or the use of public property.

- City of Atlantic City requires a permit to commercial film, video or still photo shoots in any public area.
- Productions shooting in Atlantic City on city owned property are required to carry a $1 million liability insurance policy per incident. Permits will not be processed without insurance.
- Closing the streets and interference with normal traffic requires a permit and police/traffic officer(s). The applicant will be responsible to obtain any/all police coverage deemed necessary.
- Special vehicular parking on city streets or the Boardwalk requires a vehicular permit. There is no charge for this permit when shooting a film in Atlantic City. Vehicle permits may be obtained by the applicant from the City Engineer's office at (609) 347-5360.
- Applications for permits must be received by the appropriate City Office no less than five (5) working days prior to the date of the event. Please contact the film office as soon as possible to expedite the permitting process.
