Where (and when) can you find one of the best dinner and theatre deals happening in Atlantic City this summer? The ever-entertaining producer of the best dinner shows in NJ, the Palm Restaurant
is presenting a limited run of “Peggy Sue Got Murdered
” on August 9, 12 and 18.
In “Peggy Sue Got Murdered,” singing, dancing, hilarity and a homicide ensue at a 1959 class reunion attended by classmates Todd, Spike, Dotty, Veronica, Peggy Sue and the school chaperone. The talented troupe is composed of Broadway and off-Broadway understudies.
“This script was so retro and fun and family-oriented, we had to do it – even though it’s our peak season,” said Paul Sandler, general manager of The Palm.
To enhance the dinner theater experience, Sandler encourages patrons to “dress up” in vintage-1959 fashions such as pedal pushers, poodle skirts, shirt-waist dresses with full skirts, loose-tops and shrugs for the gals; ivy league-style shirts or short sleeve sweater/cardigans and Bermuda shorts for the guys. Think Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in “I love Lucy.”
Held in one of Palm’s private dining rooms, the dinner show starts at 6 p.m. as characters mingle with the diners “There’s also a lot of interaction during the meal with dinner being served between scenes,” explained Sandler.
The three-course dinner begins with a salad (classic Caesar or avocado citrus) followed by a filet mignon, which is served with a lobster tail, crab cake or spring scampi along with sides of smoked bacon mac and cheese and green beans with toasted almonds. Dinner ends with a dessert of baked Alaska or key lime pie.
